Huntington's Disease Awareness Month - a Human Story
Most people are building their careers, raising families, or planning what comes next when Huntington’s disease begins to show.
It starts with small changes, but over time, it becomes harder to plan, to remember, to stay in control of movements. Things that once felt automatic start to take effort.
Huntington’s is a genetic condition.
If a parent has it, there’s a 50% chance it passes on.
And today, while treatments can help manage symptoms, they can’t stop the disease from progressing. That’s why so much of the work in this space is focused on the cause itself.
Huntington’s is driven by a repeating “CAG” sequence in our DNA, that expands over time.
Researchers are exploring ways to limit that expansion, with the aim of slowing or changing how the disease develops.
It’s complex work.
But it’s moving forward.
For a condition that’s spent so long in the shadows, that progress matters and we’re proud to be part of that.
