Huntington's Disease Awareness Month - What does Huntington's disease look like?

This week on campus, it looked like a row of homemade cupcakes — each one marked with three letters: CAG.

In Huntington’s disease, repeated “CAG” sequences expand within a gene, and over time, that expansion leads to the symptoms of the condition.

To bring the science to life, we created a visual display in the canteen: a continuous chain of CAG cupcakes.

Each cupcake taken made the chain a little shorter.

The main aim wasn’t specifically fundraising, but engagement — to spark conversations and make the biology more tangible, because awareness remains one of the biggest barriers to progress in Huntington’s disease.

Thank you to Ten Hats Limited for generously providing our poster, and to Babraham Research Campus for providing the function space for our charity cupcake event.
