Huntington's Disease Youth Organization (HDYO) International Young Adults Congress
Last week, our Principal Scientist, Dr. Isabela Cunha Navarro, had the privilege of attending the Huntington's Disease Youth Organization (HDYO) International Young Adults Congress in Prague, Czech Republic.

HDYO is an international non-profit supporting, educating, and empowering young people, impacted by Huntington's Disease (HD).
Reflecting on her experience at the congress, Dr Navarro emphasized how the event reinforced the power of collaboration, innovation and the community committed to driving advances in HD research and care. Some of her takeaways include:
- The pace of HD research is accelerating, with promising advances in symptomatic treatments, HTT-lowering therapies and somatic expansion, bringing renewed hope to the HD community
- Early intervention is critical and there is a strong ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for future generations
- Genetic testing is a complex and deeply personal decision that requires respect, support and access to the right resources at every step
- Collaboration between researchers, advocacy groups and the HD community ensures scientific progress aligns with the most pressing patient needs
- Support networks like HDYO are crucial for guidance and a sense of belonging, especially for young people dealing with HD
At Harness Therapeutics, we remain committed to our lead Huntington's Disease program targeting FAN1 nuclease, a key protective protein that helps slow the toxic cascade driving disease progression.
Together, through research, advocacy, and community support, we can make a meaningful impact on the future of HD care.
